Queste parole sono per ognuno di noi che si è mai sentito impotente, contro un nemico mille volte più grande.
Negli ultimi anni la repressione, contro ogni lotta per la liberazione, è aumentata. In paesi diversi l’attenzione delle autorità si è concentrata sui movimenti diversi, ma la sostanza rimane la stessa: Stato e governi proteggono gli sfruttatori, non gli sfruttati. Proteggono gli oppressori, non le vittime. Proteggono coloro che violentano, uccidono e schiavizzano. Non coloro che mettono in discussione l’esistenza stessa delle gabbie. Per fare questo, si stanno usando nuove leggi, unità speciali della polizia, un numero maggiore di migliorate tecniche di sorveglianza
In questo recente caso contro il movimento di liberazione animale, quelli/e che scrivono sono stati accusati /e di un presunto crimine: aver liberato quasi 5000 visoni dalle loro gabbie, dove avrebbero vissuto una vita di paura, angoscia ed isolamento prima di essere uccisi per divenire cappotti di pelliccia, in un allevamento nel villaggio olandese di Barchem.
Per questo motivo saremo processati /e il 25 ed il 27 settembre in Olanda.
Non spenderemo altre parole su questo evento specifico, considerando che il processo deve ancora svolgersi, ma vorremmo offrire il nostro punto di vista al movimento, su ciò che la repressione sta facendo, su quello che la repressione significa veramente per noi.
La repressione deve essere affrontata con consapevolezza. Bisogna in un certo modo sapersela aspettare, dobbiamo essere preparati /e e pronti /e ad accettare le conseguenze del voler mettere in discussione lo stato attuale delle cose. Senza questa consapevolezza ci accingiamo a vivere la nostra vita nella paura e non essere in grado di portare avanti le lotte in modo efficace. La repressione nasce come risposta ad una lotta efficace. Ogni azione comporta una reazione, è per questo che i governi e la polizia intervengono per fermarci, perché stiamo trovando metodi che funzionano per ottenere dei risultati. Se non fossimo una effettiva minaccia, non avrebbero fatto nulla perché alle autorità non sarebbe importato.
Dobbiamo accettare l’idea dell’esistenza della repressione, se quello che vogliamo è che questa lotta generi un reale cambiamento. La repressione ed il costruire un cambiamento effettivo sono fondamentalmente due facce della stessa medaglia. La peggiore reazione che possiamo avere di fronte alla repressione è di timore. Questo è quello che da alla repressione il suo potere. Siamo noi, come movimento, che possiamo scegliere in che modo reagire davanti alla repressione, e decidere se vogliamo che influenzi il nostro agire o meno. Continuare le campagne che cercano fermare è il modo migliore in assoluto per sfidare, e combattere, la repressione. Rispondere in maniera più forte, migliore, più organizzata e con maggiore preparazione. Prendere in considerazione che la repressione esiste significa diminuirne l’impatto sulle nostre vite quando colpisce. Imparare gli uni dagli errori degli altri per potenziare le nostre strategie. In caso contrario, daremo alle autorità repressive un modello che può essere utilizzato per calpestare qualsiasi altro tipo di dissenso, in qualsiasi altro movimento.
Questo è il loro modo di lavorare, colpiscono uno /a di noi per insegnare a mille. Questo è l’obiettivo stesso di arresti e perquisizioni, di isolamento e prigionia. E’ la loro migliore arma: instillare la paura nelle nostre teste per renderci innocui /e, per farci tacere.
Per questo motivo, mentre ci troviamo di fronte questo processo ci piacerebbe ricordare a tutti che anche noi abbiamo un’arma. Si tratta di un’ arma più forte delle loro, perché è costruita su compassione e rabbia, è basata sulla dedizione e la sincerità di persone che condividono lo stesso senso di urgenza: si chiama solidarietà.
Solidarietà significa sostenersi a vicenda nei momenti di bisogno, ma anche rispondere agli attacchi, non lasciare che la paura conquisti le nostre vite o fermi la nostra capacità di essere efficaci. Significa costituire insieme un movimento realmente unito, con tutte le nostre forze, competenze e abilità. Ed unirci in un nostro obiettivo comune: porre fine allo sfruttamento spietato dei nostri compagni /e esseri viventi e del pianeta che ci ospita tutti /e.
La solidarietà è la chiave per mantenere viva questa lotta, e per creare un movimento che non saranno mai in grado di distruggere.
Perché nessuno è libero, fino a quando TUTTI /E sono liberi.

These words are for every one of us who has ever felt helpless against an enemy a thousand times larger than yourself.
In the last years the repression against every liberation struggle has increased. In different countries the attention of the authorities has focused on different movements, but the substance remains the same: state and governments protect the abusers, not the abused. They protect the perpetrators, not the victims. They protect those who rape, kill and enslave. Not those who challenge the very existence of the cages. To do this, they are using new laws, special police units, more and better surveillance techniques.
In this recent case against the animal liberation movement, those who write have been accused of a crime: to allegedly have set free almost 5000 minks from their cages, where they would have lived a life of fear, distress and confinement before being killed and made into fur coats, at a fur farm in the dutch village of Barchem.
For this reason we will face trial the 25th and 27th of September in Holland.
We’ll not spend more words on this specific event, considering that the trial is yet to 
come, but we’d like to offer our perspective to the movement, about what repression is doing, about what repression really means to us.
Repression needs to be dealt with head on. It needs to be expected, we need to be prepared and ready to accept the consequences of challenging the actual state of things. Without this awareness we are going to live our lives in fear and not fight in any kind of effective way. Repression is born out of effectiveness. Every action has a reaction, that is why governments and police step in to stop effective ways of achieving our aims. If we were being ineffective, then nothing would be done to stop us because the authorities would not care.
We need to accept the idea of repression, if what we want is to create a struggle that will make any kind of change. Repression and effective change are basically two sides of the same coin. The worst reaction to repression is for us to run scared. This gives repression it’s power. We as a movement choose how we react to repression, and whether we can allow it to affect us or not. Continuing with the campaigns they try to stop is the absolute best way to challenge and fight repression. Come back harder, better, more organized, stronger, and more prepared. Expect and deal with repression in order to lower the impact when it happens. Learn from each others mistakes and empower our strategies. Otherwise, we leave the authorities with a blueprint that they can use to trample out any other kind of dissent, in any other kind of movement.
This is the way they work: they hit one of us to teach a thousand. This is the very aim of arrests and house raids, of isolation and imprisonment. It’s their best weapon: to instill the fear in our heads to make us harmless, to make us silent.
For this reason, while we face this trial we’d like everyone to remember that we, too, have our weapon. Is a weapon stronger than theirs because is built on compassion and rage, it’s based on dedication and sincerity between people who share the same sense of urgency: it’s called solidarity.
Solidarity means supporting each other in times of need, but also fighting back, not letting the fear win over our lives or stop us being effective. It means coming together as a movement, with all our strengths, skills, and abilities. And ultimately, coming together through our shared aim; ending the ruthless exploitation of our fellow living beings and of the planet that host us all.
Solidarity is the key to keep every struggle alive and to create a movement that they’ll never be able to break.
Because no one is free, until ALL are free.
